Facts: I live in the city of Haugesund in Rogaland, in South Western Norway. I have worked as a general practitioner for many years, then at a rehabilitation center, but from September 2013 i started working in the gyneacology & obstetrics department at Haugesund hospital.
I sometimes write articles for Norwegian medical journals, Tidsskrift for Den norske legeforening and Utposten. They are not scientific articles, but clinical and philosophical tales, political statements, book reviews, and the odd editorial.
I also write articles and letters to editors in newspapers and journals. I don’t know if they’re worth the effort, they certainly don’t change the world, but they might make somebody stop to think a little. Maybe that’s good enough?
I support Maisha Mema, a child sponsorship program in Kenya, who run an orphany and school for slum children in Nairobi.
I am a reader. I’ve been reading from the age of four. That’s actually my most important job.
Mostly – apart from scientific litterature connected to my profession as a physician – I read novels. I believe fiction is a major source of knowledge for understanding life and the world around us. Maybe a rather feminine view, but so be it. If you want to know what I’m reading, click “Lesestoff” at the top menu.
I prefer to read English and Norwegian. In fact, they are the only languages I actually can read, except for the other Scandinavian languages.
